Top Ski Areas in the

Grindelwald-

Many paths lead to the ski area – by cable car, gondola or train. It’s amazing how close we are to the majestic, ice-capped mountains up here. Elegant panorama. Swishing down the slope against the backdrop of the Eiger, and Jungfrau peaks is simply sublime. We can even race down the world-famous trail. No joke. Well, maybe it’d be better to take it a bit easier on the way down. That thing’s pretty steep. Learn More

Grindelwald-First

We take the gondola high up the sun-drenched . We definitely recommend sunscreen. We soon see the White Elements Snowpark below us where snowboarders and freestylers are practising their gnarly tricks. If we would rather not fly through the park, we can also kick-start our adrenaline with the First Flyer. Learn More

The mountain HE skied down. In his sexy blue one-piece. 007. Working on His Majesty’s behalf. The equipment and the slopes have changed a bit in the meantime, but the feeling is still omnipresent on the Schilthorn. Learn More

About Switzerland

Switzerland (German: Schweiz, French: Suisse, Italian: Svizzera, Romansch: Svizra, Latin: Confoederatio Helvetica) is a landlocked country in Central Europe. It has borders with France to the west, Italy to the south, Austria and Liechtenstein to the east and Germany to the north.  Switzerland is known for its mountains (Alps in south, Jura in northwest) but it also has a central plateau of rolling hills, plains, and large lakes. The highest point is Dufourspitze at 4,634m while Lake Maggiore is only 195m above sea level.

There is no single “Swiss language”. Depending on where you are in the country the locals might speak Swiss-German (“Schwiizertüütsch”, expressed in Zürich dialect), French, Italian, or, in the valleys of Graubünden (engl.: Grisons), Romansh, an ancient Romance language. All four languages are considered official languages (except that Standard German is the official German language, and not , which is various dialects). Some cities such as Biel/Bienne and Fribourg/Freiburg are officially bilingual, and any part of Switzerland has multilingual residents, with German, English, and French being the most widely spoken second languages depending on the area.
